Yesterday we did something different we all had to use our critical eye to see what each other needed to work on with their swimming strokes. I found out a few things that I need to work on like keeping my technique solid when I get tired. During the workout in class we had to swim about 5 laps so everyone could have a chance to practice their critical eye abilities. After that I wanted to do more of a workout. The workout that Glen gave me was tough...is started with a 150m warm-up, 4x50 sprints, 4x100, 4x50 sprints and I did a 25m cool down. Considering I am sore I am today my cool down of 25m wasn't a long enough cool down but I didn't want to do any more at the time. I did a combination of the freestyle, back stroke and breaststroke when I got tired I would switch to a different stroke to give my muscles a break or to catch my breath.
My goals:
- Is to double the amount of laps I did the first day of school for the test . So that would be 12 laps in 12 minutes.
- Perfect flip turns so I can increase my speed doing laps.
When I was doing the sprints I was able to do the 50m laps in under a minute but then I had to take a minute break to catch my breath and give my muscles a break before going again. I am going to keep working towards my goals though.
