improving everyday

Yesterday we did something different we all had to use our critical eye to see what each other needed to work on with their swimming strokes. I found out a few things that I need to work on like keeping my technique solid when I get tired. During the workout in class we had to swim about 5 laps so everyone could have a chance to practice their critical eye abilities. After that I wanted to do more of a workout. The workout that Glen gave me was tough...is started with a 150m warm-up, 4x50 sprints, 4x100, 4x50 sprints and I did a 25m cool down. Considering I am sore I am today my cool down of 25m wasn't a long enough cool down but I didn't want to do any more at the time. I did a combination of the freestyle, back stroke and breaststroke when I got tired I would switch to a different stroke to give my muscles a break or to catch my breath.

My goals:
  • Is to double the amount of laps I did the first day of school for the test . So that would be 12 laps in 12 minutes.
  • Perfect flip turns so I can increase my speed doing laps.

When I was doing the sprints I was able to do the 50m laps in under a minute but then I had to take a minute break to catch my breath and give my muscles a break before going again. I am going to keep working towards my goals though.

Sore from Swimming

Being sore from swimming is a new thing for me but i love the feeling. Yesterday we went over the backstroke, practicing it and what we need to work on. Unfortunately I can't remember what I need to work on which means I am going to have to ask the teacher. I asked my teacher for a workout and he gave me one. It started with a warmup of 150m, followed by 5x25, then alot of other things that I couldn't remember so from here I did my own thing. It started with 2x150ish I kept losing track. Followed by a nonstop 100 I was struggling by the time of got to 75 and have no idea how I finished the full 100 but I did. Yeah!! I then finished with a few laps doing the breaststroke to cool down and finish out my workout. I can't wait for the workout on thursday. I also did water aerobics in Hagerman. It was nice and went way to fast. Lisa also said that she is going to start making water aerobics harder for the people who want it harder I can't wait to see what she had in mind.

Water Aerobics and swimming

So I am so annoyed right now because the person that is in charge of the PE department at school cancelled the Water Aerobics class because there were not enough people signed up for the class the first day of school. UGH!!!!! Almost nobody keeps their schedule the same as it was the first day of school. At least I get to do the swimming class.
On tuesday we did the Cooper 12 minute test. This is where we had to swim for 12 minutes straight. When the teacher said to start I didn't have my swim cap and goggles on yet so when I got started everyone else had about 1/2 a lap done. I was able to keep going the whole time amazingly. My muscles where really tired and sore I was even sore on wednesday. I was able to complete 5 3/4 Laps. YEAH!!! I figure six because if I had started when everyone else then I may have been able to complete more then six. This is all I have for now I will post more after my seimming clas if anything amazing happens.
